The Project Liquid Machine is inspired by the theories of sociologist Zygmundt Bauman. We wanted to create a model of communication that would create a discourse out of fragments of different media. Imagine a random sentence and that each single word of it would be written in a different language and on one of a range of manifold bases. We wanted to achieve the same but through diverse contemporary media and communication technologies. The aim is to overcome the alteration that has been suffering our cognitive system due to the adaptations to the new media, as for instance our reduced capacity of concentration.
We launched our first prototype in june 2012. The subject we choose was coltan and its exploitation in the Congo. The results were encouraging.
The role of the designmaking consisted in creating simple images with a very high content of information that could also be visualized on any technological medium. The latter is very important since the way of access is through QR codes that are strategically located throughout the city.
